Sylvia was the beloved wife of the late John. Dearest mother of Andrea (Michael) Henry, Alexis Santangelo (the late John) Zapantis, Joseph Santangelo, John Santangelo, and Alex (Dora) Santangelo. Loving grandmother of Gina Zapantis, John Zapantis, the late Alisha Albert, John Santangelo, Chris Wallace, Tonya Santangelo, Christina Henry, Joe Santangelo, Alex J. Santangelo, Valerie Henry, Anthony Santangelo, Aaron Santangelo, Dominic Santangelo, Davin Santangelo, and Sarah Santangelo. Sylvia is also survived by her dear great-grandchildren, Jasmine, Jamal, Jadin, Keyana, Hannah, Sonny, Gracie, Liliana, Gianni, John and Emma, and one great-great-grandchild, Alisha. She is also survived by her precious brother Eugene Korolewicz. In addition, she leaves several loving cousins, nieces, nephews, and her sister-in-law Rose Marie (Don) Gortat to cheri9sh her memory. She was preceded in death by her brother, Stanley Korolewicz.
As a young girl, Sylvia attended St. Louis the King Grade School in northeast Detroit, and Pershing High School on Detroit's east side. At St. Louis the King, she was very involved in the church choir. She had a marvelous voice and usually sang alto, beautifully harmonizing the songs, as well as singing soprano when needed. Throughout her life, music, singing and dance played a major part in her daily interests. As teens, she and her brother Stanley participated in and won several area dance competitions. Throughout their marriage, she and her husband, John often danced the jitterbug to the delight of their children and other family and friends as well.
Sylvia was lovingly devoted to her husband John and their children. She thoroughly enjoyed watching the Billy Graham Crusades when they were aired years ago, intently listening to Dr. Graham preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ, with some of her children. Sylvia will be remembered by all who knew and loved her for her extreme kindness, generosity and humor. A favorite expression of hers, in lieu of saying goodbye, was always, "so long," until she'd see family or friends the next time.
In light of the Governor's current directives, there will be no gathering or services at this time. The D.S. Temrowski & Sons Funeral Home will handle burial at Resurrection Cemetery in Clinton Township, Michigan, next to her beloved husband John.
