Theodore S. Walewski, age 84 of Warren, died September 1, 2009 at the St. John Macomb-Oakland Hospital, Macomb Center in Warren. Theodore was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on March 24, 1925 to parents, Ludwig & Helen Valeski. Most recently a resident of Windemere Park in Warren, he is formerly of Hazel Park where he resided for over 55 years. We honor and pay tribute to Theodore for his service to our country, and towards the cause of freedom, during World War II. A proud & valiant soldier in the United States Army, Theodore received a number of ribbons, service medals, and an expert rifleman's combat badge throughout his two-and-a-half years as an Infantryman. Following his time overseas, Theodore returned home and walked down the aisle with the love of his life, Maxine. The two were married in 1946, and spent many wonderful years together until her passing. They both loved to dance, and now Maxine's beloved can join her in that great ballroom in the sky. Theodore was employed with the Chrysler Corporation, having worked in an administrative role at the Chrysler Amplex. After years of dedicated service, he proudly retired in 1980. He was a man of faith and devout parishoner of his church, St. Mary Magdalen, for over 50 years. He was also an active man, as many of his fellow Windemere neighbors will attest. He enjoyed sharing with them in all types of games, a couple of his favorites being Bingo and Pinnocle. But of all his activities, none were more precious than those spent in the company of his grandchildren. He loved the joy they brought and the moments they made together. His presence will be truly missed. Beloved husband of the late Maxine. Loving father of Theodore M. (Linda) and Marianne (William Todaro) Cansler. Dear grandfather of Jillian (Peter Rode) Cansler and Matthew Cansler. Dearest brother of Florian Walen and Joseph (June) Walewski. Brother-in-law of Jean Penkala and Eleanor Maziasz. Dear friend of Marie Hershberger. Predeceased by son-in-law, John Cansler and brother, Stanley Walewski. Visitation will be on Friday from 3-9pm, with a 7pm Rosary Service, at the D.S. Temrowski & Sons Funeral Home, 30009 Hoover Road at Common (12 1/2 Mile Rd) in Warren. Theodore will lie In State on Saturday at St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church from 9:30am until the time of the Funeral Mass at 10:00am. Interment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery in Clinton Township, Michigan. Please share memories of Theodore at his guest book.
