

Thomas Raymond Kania, age 70, died Friday, December 4, 2015 at St. John Macomb Hospital in Warren. Tom was born December 31, 1944 in Hamtramck, son of the late John and the late Emily (nee Zakrzewski) Kania.Tom was blessed with a rewarding and fulfilling career, one in which he had the honor & pleasure of helping to mold and educate young minds as a middle school teacher in the Clawson Public School System. Each day was a gift of sharing the knowledge he was instilled with to an up & coming generation of early teenagers with a host of visions for the future. Tom was an amazing teacher who took a challenging job and made it look like a piece of cake. He will long be remembered by a countless number of students whose lives are richer because of the care that Mr. Kania extended.Tom will also be remembered for being a man of incredible faith; a servant of God who lived out his faith by considering others more important than himself. He was a devout and longtime parishoner of Our Lady Queen of Apostles Catholic Church in Hamtramck where one of his favorite ministerial outreaches was through his involvement with the church's choir. Tom had a beautiful voice and loved to sing,...especially when it was in the process of helping to lift the hearts of his fellow congregates. His singing prowess was also realized through his membership with the Filarets Chorus.A loving son, brother, uncle and friend, Tom touched a multitude of hearts and lives in his journey through life and leaves an impact that will never be forgotten by those who were fortunate to know this honorable man. His love will live on through the memories and reflections that lie in wait to be visited and embraced by family and friend alike. He will be missed immensely and loved eternally. He was the loving brother of Christine M. Kania. Special cousin of Michael (Sharon) Kania and Phyllis (Thomas) Zapalski. Forever friend of Lucy Koziel, Dolores Patrick, and Cheryl Bogner. Visitation for Thomas will be held Sunday, December 6th from 3 – 9 pm, with a 7 pm Rosary Service, at the D.S. Temrowski & Sons Funeral Home, 30009 Hoover Road at Common (12 ½ Mile Rd) in Warren.He will lie in state on Monday from 10:30 am until time of the Funeral Mass at 11:00 am at Our Lady Queen of Apostles Catholic Church in Hamtramck, Michigan.Interment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery in Clinton Township, Michigan..
