Timothy F. Carter, age 40 of Warren, died Wednesday, September 25, 2013 at St. John Macomb-Oakland Hospital, Macomb Center in Warren. He was born on July 3, 1973 in Detroit, the son of Henry and Bonnie (nee: Walbridge) Carter. With thanks & praise from a grateful nation, we pay homage to Tim for his service to our country and the bravery shown in defense of our freedoms. Serving from 1992 thru 1996 in the U.S. Marine Corps, Tim's area of command was with the 2nd Maintenance Battalion where his specialty was that of an Electrical Equipment Repairman. He received numerous decorations to include a National Defense Medal, a Sea Service Deployment Ribbon, and a Meritorious Mast, and Marksman badges for his expertise with both rifles and pistols. We honor Tim for his willingness to stand in harm's way on our behalf,…especially at what was such a sensitive time, and in a world that was changing daily. For the call to duty he so proudly served, we are thankful for the liberties we enjoy today because he stood strong and true as a patriot does.Tim was a dedicated employee of Superior Materials in Sterling Heights where he served as one of their cement truck drivers. When he wasn't working, Tim lived for those sunny days when he could fire up the motorcycle and head out on the open road with that special sense of "freedom" that only bikers can understand. Road trips were also special for another reason as it gave Tim the opportunity to chat with all his CB buddies. A lover of the world of CBer's, he truly enjoyed the unique and fraternal banter he shared over the radio waves with his truckin' brother's. Like most guys, he loved his sports, too. Not particularly bound to any one team or venue, Tim simply enjoyed the whole competition aspect. As for the personal sports he indulged, nirvana for Tim meant spending a sunny day on the links…in search of that elusive hole-in-one! He loved to golf and enjoyed the serenity and peacefulness of a well-landscaped course. Another of his sporting pleasures was found in his love of hunting. There was always something special about escaping the concrete jungle and heading up to the Manistee area, to his cousin Larry's house, where wild game was in abundance,…and often became targets for his sights. Whether deer, pheasants, or any variety of edible Michigan varmints, Tim's skills with firearms came in quite handy. And yes,…Tim had a softer side as well, which was never more evident than when he was with his "best friend, Sammy!" And for the most part, the two were inseparable. Sammy was his furry, four-legged friend, a mix of Chocolate Labrador Retriever & Pit Bull, who was his shadow at every opportunity. Given the breed, Tim referred more affectionately to Sammy as his "Pitador." It's been said that, often, a man's dog is a reflection of himself,…and this couldn't be more true than in the relationship shared between Tim & Sammy. With that "edge" that a Pit Bull infuses,…coupled with the warmth, compassion and friendliness that a chocolate Lab brings to the mix,…could there have been a more perfect match, or a better description of either of them???Yet Tim's compassion knew no bounds and was unselfishly shared with all those special people in his life. He had a heart of gold and was the kind of guy who would give you the shirt off his back if needed. His younger days were filled with much of the wild, "Sowin' one's oats" kind of lifestyle that most guys can relate to,…until "life happens." And for Tim, the big change came with the birth of his daughter, Reese. It didn't take long for the reality to sink in that he was, now, a "Daddy." Nor did it take long for Timothy to be enveloped by the importance of fatherhood,…a place of esteem and honor that he held close to his heart, and shared with Reese unconditionally. To his Amy and Reese, he was their everything! To the extended family who touched his heart, he brought an immense portion of love and care. Gone far too soon from our presence, we can hopefully take comfort in believing that God has simply re-appointed Timothy. From family member or friend,…to that of our Guardian Angel,…he's still going to be watching out for us…from his Heavenly Home. Go Rest High, Dear Brother! Tim was the beloved fiancé of Amy Davenport, his sweetheart & soulmate for the past 15 years. His daughter, Reese will remember him as the loving & doting father that held her close. He is also survived by several other loving family members. Visitation for Tim will be held on Wednesday, October 2nd from 3-9pm, with a 7pm Eulogy Service, at the D.S. Temrowski & Sons Funeral Home, 30009 Hoover Road at Common (12 ½ Mile Road) in Warren. Memorial donations are welcomed to the family. Please share memories of Tim at his memory book.
