

Timothy James Diem age 69, a lifetime resident of Grosse Pointe Woods died at his home Thursday October 7, 2010 surrounded by his family. Tim was born March 12, 1941 in Detroit Michigan, the son of the late Cornelius and Rose (nee: VanHove) Diem. Tim was raised in Grosse Pointe and graduated the class of 1960 from Grosse Pointe High School. Following high school he attended Ferris State University before being drafted during the Vietnam War. Tim served his time in Germany and returned to Michigan where he eventually took over his fathers Tool & Die Company, Progressive Impression Die Company. In addition to the die company Tim was also owner of Detroit Hammer Key, which continues today under the direction of Tims son John. Tim was an active member of the Mack Avenue Business Mens Association, and was also the past President of the Association of Die Shops International. He was a proud member of the NRA, and an avid deer hunter and fisherman. He loved spending any time he had at his northern Michigan retreat where he could enjoy his property and views of the lake or teach his grandsons to fish. Tim is survived by his beloved wife Sandra, and his dear children, Tracey (James) Bahen, Kelly (Dr. Patrick) Maddigan, and John Diem. He is also the loving Grandpa of Declan, Gannon, Braden, Conor, Brendan, and Dillon. Also surviving is his sister Valerie (Lee) Kuczmanski. A Memorial Mass for Mr. Diem will be held October 16th, 2010 at Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church, 467 Fairford Rd. Grosse Pointe Woods, MI 48236. The Diem family will receive friends from 9:30 am until the time of the Memorial Mass at 10:00am.
