Tony "Miz" Misuraca passed away unexpectedly on May 19, 2025 at the age of 68. Beloved husband of Kim for 48 wonderful years. Loving father of Krysta (Brett) Whitbread and Andrea (Brian) Kennedy. Proud Papa of Bryce, Kade, Rosalee, and Joslyn. Dear brother of Loraine (Dennis) Rebar. Tony is also survived by many other loving family members.
Tony graduated from Sterling Heights High School in 1974 where his two loves began; one love was his wife, Kim, and thus began family man Tony, the husband, father, and papa. The second love of everything sports became rooted in Tony's high school years; and thus began Coach Miz.
Miz coached softball at Stevenson High School for 25 years, 16 as head coach, and in those years he accumulated 444 wins, 2 MAC Red area conference championships, 9 district titles, and 2 regional titles. He coached 2 Macomb County Teams of the Year, was named Macomb County Coach of the Year twice, and was recently inducted into the Macomb County Coaches Hall of Fame. He was currently serving as an assistant coach for University of Detroit Mercy Softball.
In the bit of free time he did have outside of coaching, he enjoyed spending time with family and friends, golfing, watching any sports that happened to be playing, and teaching his grandkids the fundamentals of the game.
Tony also worked as a sales representative at Vesco Oil for over 30 years.
His legacy will live on through his family and through the countless athletes whom he had the honor and privilege of coaching and mentoring through the years.
A celebration of Tony's life will be held at the Warren location of A.H. Peters Funeral Home on Sunday, May 25, 2025; a gathering will be held from 12pm until the time of remembrance at 4:30pm.
***In honor of Coach Miz, It is requested that no black or formal wear be worn; please wear your Stevenson / U of D attire, or any sports jerseys and clothing***
In lieu of flowers, donations in Tony's memory are appreciated to the University of Detroit Softball Team (https://www.udmercy.edu/giving/index.php) and Autism Speaks (https://www.autismspeaks.org/)
