

Victor George Smith died September 17th 2006 at his home in Warren surrounded by his loving family. Mr. Smith was the beloved husband of 59 years to Antoinette Toni. Dearest father of Victoria (Mike) Panutich, Barbara Susie Greenbaum, Dan, Chuck (Laura), Judy Smith, and Claudia Smith. Loving grandfather of Michael, Jonathan, Kate, Eli, Emma, Jeremy, Bobby, and Thomas. Dear Brother of Helen Rintz. Mr. Smith was raised in Detroit and graduated Pershing High School. After high school he went to work as a fabricator at R.C. Mahone, until he was called up for military service during World War II. Mr. Smith entered the United States Army and achieved the rank of Staff Sergeant. He would become a driver for many Generals, most notably General George Patton. He was honorably discharged from Company C, 774th Tank Battalion. After Mr. Smith military service, he returned to Michigan where he would go to work for Chrysler Motors for over 30 years before retiring as a skilled tradesman. When Victor was not working he could be found at home. It was truly Home sweet home, with his devoted wife of over 59 years, Antoinette, as he lovingly called Tosh. He also loved gardening and cooking for the family. His signature meal was his own Pierogi. Victor will be remembered by his family as loving husband, dear father, and cherished grandfather. Mr. Smith's visitation is on Tuesday from 5-9 pm, and Wednesday from 1-9 pm at the D.S. Temrowski & Sons Funeral Home, 30009 Hoover Road at Common (12 Mile). Rosary Service Wednesday 7 pm. Funeral services will begin on Thursday, with Mr. Smith laying in state 10:00 am at St. Sylvester Catholic Church until the time of the Funeral Mass at 10:30 am. Officiating the Funeral Mass will be Rev. Fr. Gary Schulte.
