

Walter J. Barbish "Walt", age 86, of Warren, died Thursday, July 21, 2011 at St. John Hospital in Detroit. He was born September 1, 1924 in Greensburg, Pennsylvania the son of the late Andrew and the late Nellie (nee: Korkus) Barbish. With thanks & praise from a grateful nation, we pay homage to Walter for his service to our country during World War II. He was a decorated veteran and infantry soldier in the U.S. Army, having achieved the rank of Sargaent. We honor him for the sacrifices made in preservation of the freedoms & liberties we enjoy today because he was there. Walt is survived by his wife of 53 years, Emily (nee: Polakowski); children, Allan (Judy) Barbish, Brian (Lisa) Barbish, Cynthia (Robert) Sewall, and Sandra (Brian) Puckett; grandchildren, Matthew, Ryan, Lauren, Andrew, Nathan, Sarah and Jeremy; sister, Frances Polakowski; sister-in-law, Frances Polakowski; also survived by many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by, William Polakowski, Mary (Joe) Resutek, Joseph Polakowski, William (Helen) Polakowski, Frank Polakowski, Pauline (Michael) Senko, Anna (Anthony) Rapcinski, Carrie (Ben) Ray, and Eleanor Polakowski. Visitation for Mr. Barbish will be held Sunday 3-9pm, with a 5pm Rosary service, at the D. S. Temrowski & Sons Funeral Home, 30009 Hoover Road, at Common (12 1/2 Mile Road). He will lie instate Monday 10am until the time of the funeral Mass at 10:30am at St. Sylvester Catholic Church. Internment will follow at Glen Eden Memorial Cemetery in Livonia.
