Walter J. "Mitch" Mieczkowski age 79 died Friday January 22, 2016 at his home in Detroit after a lengthy illness. Walter was born July 5, 1936 in Hamtramck Michigan the son of the late Stanislaw and Stephania Mieczkowski.Mitch served in the United States Army having attained the rank of Specialist. Following his military service Mitch returned to Michigan and went to work for the United States Postal Service as a letter carrier. Mitch worked as a letter carrier out of the Royal Oak Postal Office for many years before retiring.Mitch was the loving companion of Jean Sikora, and is also survived by many dear friends. Arrangements entrusted to D.S. Temrowski & Sons Funeral Home, Warren MI. Interment at Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly MI will be held at a future date.
