Jim was a veteran of the United States Army, where he served honorably in the Vietnam War. He was hardworking and dedicated, working for the City of Warren DPW for 30 years. Jim also believed in fellowship and community involvement. He was a longstanding member of the Detroit Moslem Shriners, Centerline Masonic Lodge #550 F & AM and the Scottish Rite Valley-Detroit Freemasons. In his free time he loved music, classic cars and taking adventures on his motorcycle, but above all else, Jim cherished his family and they were truly what was most important to him.
Jim is survived by his wife of 56 years, Sue, daughter Susan Stokes, granddaughter Kaitlyn Stokes, grandson Matthew Stokes, brother David Stokes and brother-in-law Edward (Tamara) Raquel, as well as many nieces, nephews, friends and all those who were blessed to have known him.
Friends may visit the D.S. Temrowski Funeral Home, 30009 Hoover Road, Warren, MI 48093 on Thursday, April 4, 2024 from 2:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M.
A funeral service is scheduled the following day, Friday, April 5, 2024 where Jim will lie in state from
10:00 A.M. until the service begins at 11:00 A.M., also at the D.S. Temrowski Funeral Home.
