It was then that his father Kenneth would began the long process in fulfilling his dream of moving to the United States. Like most young boys born in Canada, Wayne possessed a love of Hockey. He started skating at just 3 years old and his love for the sport would stay with him his entire life. Wayne enjoyed playing the game for many years, and later found great pleasure in simply being around the sport with his friend Steve who coached for many years.Wayne also had a true love of the water with some of his happiest memories being those with the wind at his back on a sailboat. Wayne sailed in numerous races throughout his lifetime, including many Port Huron and Chicago to Mackinaw Races. He also captained boats and delivered them to various places around the world. His love of the water is now passed on and living in his son Brad who, himself, just completed his own Port Huron and Chicago to Mackinaw races.Wayne worked many years traversing the country driving a truck. In 1980, an on-the-job injury compelled Wayne to give up the only occupation he'd known to that point in life, forcing him to reinvent himself with a slightly less strenuous vocation. Wayne's new vision found he and his family relocating up north to Oscoda where he dove into the pool of business ownership and became the proprietor of a grocery store.Through the years, Wayne faced countless struggles with his health, but remained determined to keep moving and stay totally independent. Those who knew Wayne might even say that he was a little on the stubborn side, but it was his tenacity that got him through every day.Wayne was the dear father of Brad J.
