Bill Bush, 67, died January 14, 2011 at the Grand Rapids Home for Veterans. He was the son of Peter and Stephanie Bush of Detroit, Michigan. Bill attended Our Lady Queen of Heaven Elementary School, St. Ladislaus High School, Barber School and Macomb College. He was employed in the tool and die and automotive industries, as well as working for several years as a teachers aide in a public school system. Bill was in the U. S. Army (U.S. Missle School) stationed in Texas and Korea from 1964 to 1970. During Bills tour of duty in Korea, he secured reading books from his old elementary school (Queen of Heaven) to help many Korean children learn to read. Bill loved all sports, especially baseball and hockey. In 1955, his team won the state championship title. Bill also played baseball for the Army. He was an excellent ice skater and played competitively for the Detroit Hockey League. Bill was too modest to ever mention that he was elected Homecoming King of his senior class. In his later years, he developed quite an artistic talent for ceramics and made many beautiful items. Bill has been described as such a gentleman with honesty and integrity. He was always smiling and loved to talk. Bill is survived by his sisters, Elizabeth Perry and Barbara Jeffers; and nieces, Carol Lynn (Bob) Bush and Kathleen (Neil) Hanna; nephews, John J. Perry III and Patrick L. Jeffers; and great-nephews, Patrick and Andrew. Visitation is 10 am 12 noon Thursday, January 20, 2011 at D. S. Temrowski Funeral Home, 30009 Hoover, Warren.
