Alfred F. DeAngelis

November 18, 1935March 6, 2021

Alfred F. DeAngelis, 85, of Warren, passed away on March 6, 2021 at home with his family. He was the devoted husband of the late Geraldine Camara.

Born in Barrington RI, he was a son of the late Joseph and Angelina (Lombardi) DeAngelis.

After serving in the US Air Force, Fred became an electrical contractor and co-owner of DeAngelis Electric. A skilled electrician and master craftsman, he remained a valuable resource to friends and family long after retirement.

A communicant of St Alexander's Church, Fred served as Chairman/Board Member of their Italian Festivals for over a decade building booths and creating games that are still in use today. He led youth groups, macaroni dinners, bazaars and fundraising events for the church. For many years, Fred was Cub Scout Master for Warren’s Pack 49. He and his wife Gerrie were named Marshals of the Neighborhood Division in Warren's 250th Anniversary parade. Together they co-founded Sisters in Survival, a nonprofit group raising over $100,000 for Woman & Infants Oncology research. Fred served on the Warren Planning Board, the Warren Housing Authority and as Chairman of the Warren Board of Canvassers.

He is survived by his three children, Frederick DeAngelis and his wife Rachel Lively of Barrington, Scott DeAngelis of North Reading, MA, and Roxane Coleman of Warren. He leaves behind one sister, Mary Suriani of Barrington, six grandchildren, Michael Zompa, Erica Zompa, Nicole Zompa, Fraser Coleman, Caleb DeAngelis and Eva Lively, and one great-granddaughter, Ava Otterbach. He was the brother of the late Armando, Romeo, Mario, Joseph, Salvatore, Ralph, Rocco and Victor DeAngelis.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, March 20, 2021 in Holy Angels Church, Maple Avenue, Barrington at 10:30 am.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests in keeping with Fred's spirit, a simple act of kindness be extended to another.

Arrangements are in the care of Wilbur-Romano Funeral Home, Warren, RI 02885.

I have known Fred and his family for as long as I can remember. He was truly a wonderful and loving husband to Gerrie, the best father to his children and grandchildren. His brothers and sister Mary were all such a loving and close knit family. Without a doubt Fred is now in heaven with his beloved wife, Gerrie. R.I.P. Fred for you will be missed by so many of us.

Freddy was someone who always made me feel welcomed. He just had that way about him. I will miss seeing his smiling face at future gatherings and those meatballs! Freddy say hi to Jerry for us. You are finally back together with the love of your life. Heaven just got brighter but earth has lost your light.
