To Joyce and Cheryl and all the Butterworth family. I was so very sorry to hear of the passing of Pat and Bruce...my heartfelt sympathies and condolences.
From 1973 when I first returned to RI through a lot of boats...Bruce was always a great friend and sailing mentor...he taught me a lot about racing and, also, being a good friend. Fond memories of him forever.
I am truly sorry that I will not be at the club to reminisce about all the good times.

This message is sent on behalf of Bruce and Pat's entire Englewood Sailing "family" of SW Florida. It was truly an honor and privilege to have known them and to have shared many special life experiences with them. Bruce's sailing knowledge and experience, along with his passion for passing his love of sailing along to our youth, helped to make ESA a highly successful community service organization. Bruce was a friend and mentor to many of us, a "big brother". Like others who have shared their energy and life experience with us, Bruce left a large hole in our organization and in our collective heart when he left the area after Pat's passing. We miss them, too. We are better as a result of all that they shared with us for the time we had together. Our deepest condolences to the family and friends of Bruce and Pat Butterworth. Sail on, dear ones.......sail on.
