Born in Providence, he was the son of the late Edmund C. LaRue, Sr. and Mildred D. (Skuce) LaRue.
A graduate of Warren High School. Derrick furthered his education at New England Institute of Technology as well as Roger Williams University. He worked as an Architectural Restorer for many years.
Derrick was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing and finding artifacts.
He is survived by one sister, Cheryl LaRue of Warren; one nephew, Ryan LaRue and his wife Alexandra of Providence; one niece, Molly Newsom and her husband Shane of Barrington; great-nieces and nephews, Sydney, Emerson, and Rosalie. Derrick was the brother of the late Kevin and Edmund LaRue, Jr.
His Funeral Services will be private.
