

Elizabeth “Betty” (Tronni) Martini, age 93, of Barrington, passed away peacefully on Friday, October 2, 2026, at Riverview Rehabilitation & Healthcare Center in Coventry. She was the devoted wife of the late John R. Martini.
Born in Providence, Betty was a daughter of the late Ferdinand and Benedetta (Franco) Tronni. She grew up in the Silver Lake neighborhood of Providence before making her home in Barrington, where she raised her family and became a cherished member of the community.
A woman of deep faith, Betty had been a communicant of Holy Angels Church since 1957. She began her working career with Affiliated Insurance Company, where she was employed for 12 years, before joining the Barrington Public School Department. She worked in Accounts Payable there for 22 years and retired in 1995.
Betty was an active member of the Barrington Woman’s Club for 22 years, serving as treasurer and generously sharing her many talents. A gifted seamstress, she handmade numerous quilts for the club’s fundraisers and lovingly created corsages to welcome new members over the years. Betty often referred to herself, with pride, as a “professional seamstress,” and countless friends benefited from her skill and willingness to create, alter and mend their garments, as well as, making curtains, upholstering furniture . She also lovingly created many Halloween, dance and percussion ensemble costumes for her children and grandchildren, as well as her daughter’s wedding and bridesmaids’ gowns.
She also enjoyed the companionship and friendly competition of a good card game. Betty was an avid bridge player and spent many happy hours playing with friends at the Barrington Women’s Club. She especially enjoyed playing Liverpool with her sisters, daughter and granddaughter. Her other favorite pastimes included gardening, music, singing, baking and cooking delicious Italian foods especially stuffed peppers and homemade pastas and “gravy”. On Thursdays, she enjoyed having lunch and playing Bingo at the Barrington Senior Center.
Above all else, Betty treasured her family. Her grandchildren held an especially dear place in her heart, and time spent surrounded by those she loved brought her the greatest joy.
She is survived by her daughter, Donna E. Martini-Proulx and her husband, Larry, of Coventry; her daughter-in-law, Jane (Howard) Martini; her grandchildren, John C. Martini and his wife, Nicole (Ramos), Maijel Elizabeth Proulx and Joseph L. Proulx; her great-grandson, Antonio D. Martini; as well as many nieces, nephews and dear friends.
Betty was the loving mother of the late Dino J. Martini and the sister of the late Maria Pia Menna, Carlo Albert Tronni, Virginia Menna, Renato Tronni, Eugine Tronni and Marie Norma Faraone.
Her funeral will be held Thursday, October 8, 2026, at 9:00 AM from the Wilbur-Romano Funeral Home, 615 Main Street, Warren followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00 AM in Holy Angels Church, 341 Maple Ave., Barrington. Relatives and friends are invited. Burial will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Providence. Visitation will be held Wednesday, October 7, 2026 from 3:00 to 7:00 PM.
