DiOrio, Gloria, 81, of Samoset Ave died Monday May 3, 2010 at RI Hospital surrounded by her family. She was the wife of the late Victor DiOrio, deceased in 1984.
Born in the Bronx , NY, she was the daughter of the late Antonio and Concetta (Rocco) Dolcemascolo, shoemaker and homemaker. She was the youngest and last survivor of four children including Ann, Frank and Vivian.
Gloria started her career as a seamstress in the Bronx before meeting her husband Victor at a luncheonette. Over the years, they owned restaurants including the Casa Di Carolina (Yonkers , NY) and DiOrio’s Diner (Seekonk , MA).
Most of all, Gloria loved her family. She had a passion for butterflies, bingo, music, singing, cooking and shopping. She was a member of the Red Hat Society, the Coffee Club at Dunkin Doughnuts and the Barrington and Simi Valley, CA Senior Centers.
She is survived by her five children, Donna Silvia, Victor Jr, Robert, Richard and Steven along with her grandchildren, Stefanie, Derek, Marcie, Hollie, Steven, Autumn & Emily.
Her Funeral will be Friday at 8 AM from Wilbur-Romano Funeral Home, 615 Main St, Warren, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9 AM in Holy Angel’s Church, 341 Maple Ave, Barrington. Burial will be at the Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Providence.
