Henry P. Stimpson Jr. died on his 93rd birthday on February 17, 2019 in Wayland, Mass. He was the husband of the late Viola Stimpson. He is survived by his son Henry III of Wayland and daughter Linda Stimpson of Portland, Maine; grandchildren Rebecca Stimpson, Liza Rose Darvin and Theo Darvin; daughter-in-law Suzanne Stimpson and son-in-law Peter Darvin.
Henry was a longtime resident of Warwick and Narragansett, R.I., before moving to Massachusetts in 2006. He was an avid fisherman and outdoorsman and an early user of flies for saltwater fishing. He was a textile engraver with Universal Engravers in Providence, a firm founded by his father. He served with the U.S. Navy stateside during World War II.
There will be a brief memorial and military service for family and friends at the Gate of Heaven Cemetery chapel in East Providence at 12:45 p.m. on Saturday, February 23.
