Born in Bristol, a son of the late Jose P. and Ana (Moitoza) Motta; he later moved to Barrington where he lived for 62 years.
Mr. Motta served as an MP in the United States Army during peace time before joining the Barrington Police Department, where he worked until retiring in 1987. He then worked security at Fleet Bank.
He leaves a son, David and his wife Deborah of Cranston; a daughter, Sue Anne and her husband Robert Baxter of Swansea; four grandchildren, Derek and William Motta and Stephanie and Erika Baxter; a sister, Elsie Goulart, and several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Evelyn Pimental and Alice Silva.
