Madeline Dulcie (Ryding) Jaworek, 91, of Warren, passed away Sunday, April 3, 2011. She was the wife of the late Stanley W. Jaworek. Born on Feb. 20, 1920, the daughter of the late James and Isabel (Wilding) Ryding. She was predeceased by sisters, Mollie Ratcliffe and Edith Swift, and brothers, Harold, Stanley, Lincoln, Malcolm, Bert, and Cecil Ryding all in England.
Dulcie worked as a baker in England before meeting her American soldier and becoming a war bride in 1944. She arrived in this country in 1946 on the Queen Mary with her infant son. She worked in the garment industry for many years. Dulcie’s passions were her family, her friends, baking and her gardens. Many will remember her in her front yard pulling weeds or mowing her lawn on her bright red riding mower.
She leaves a son, Martin L. Jaworek and wife Linda of Rehoboth, and a daughter, Karen Fisher of Warren. She also leaves four grandchildren, Crystal D’Arezzo and husband Michael of W. Kingston, Brian Jaworek and his beloved Kelly of Pawtucket, Stephanie Wagner and husband Sgt. 1st Class Adam of Attleboro, and MSgt. Leland Jaworek of N. Dighton, Mass. She also leaves one great-grandchild, Jonathan Wagner.
A service of celebration is at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, April 16, at First United Methodist Church, 25 Church St., Warren. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations to First United Methodist Church of Warren or Hospice at Visiting Nurse Services of Newport and Bristol Counties, 1184 East Main Road, Portsmouth, RI 02871, would be appreciated.
