Margaret B. Kee, 88, of Long Lane, Warren, passed away peacefully at home on January 19, 2012, one day prior to her 89th birthday, surrounded by her family and dog, Sam, who was her constant companion.
Born in Fall River, MA, she was the daughter of the late James and Margaret (Ryan) Bradbury; wife of the late Gordon F. Kee; mother of Richard, Gordon Jr., Byron and David Kee, Kathleen Ibbotson and Margaret Lopes; sister of George Bradbury, Mary St. Vincent and the late Thomas and James Bradbury; grandmother of 15; great-grandmother of 17.
Margaret had worked as a typist for Aetna for 20 years before retiring in 1985. She served with the Red Cross during WWII and had owned and operated the Kee Farm. In 2011, Mrs. Kee placed the family farm into the Open Space Program. The farm was originally purchased by the Kee family in 1877 and has been a working farm for 135 years. This conservation effort has allowed the farm to become a wildlife sanctuary and to remain a farm forever.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Tuesday, January 24th at 10 a.m. in the St. Francis of Assisi Church, 530 Gardners Neck Road, Swansea, MA, followed by interment in South Burial Ground, Warren. Visiting hours are respectfully omitted. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Warren Animal Shelter, 80 Wood Street, Warren, RI 02885 or www.warrenanimalshelter.com.
