Born in Terceira, Azores, Portugal, she was the daughter of the late Francisco and Maria Jesus (Perreira) Sampaio.
Maria worked for Carol Cable for 20 years until her retirement in 2002. In her spare time, she enjoyed embroidery, traveling, gardening, cooking, attending theatrical shows, singing and especially her time spent with family.
She is survived by five children, Francisco “Frank” Mello, Norvel DeMelo, Danny DeMelo and Lisa DeMelo and her husband Hubie Joseph all of Bristol and Maria Pereira and her husband Francisco of Riverside; one sister, Evelina Bryant of Warren; six grandchildren, Jennifer Melo, Joshua Joseph, Ashley Pereira, Allison Pereira, Shaun Joseph and Corey DaSilva and many nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Francisco Sampaio, Flo Daponte, Rosa Pacheco, Maria Castro, Alexandria Baptista and Zelia Pimental.
Her Funeral Service will be held Thursday, November 10, 2022 at 9:00 AM from the Wilbur-Romano Funeral Home, 615 Main St., Warren followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00 in St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 500 Metacom Ave., Warren. Visiting hours are Wednesday from 4:00 – 7:00 PM. Contributions in her honor may be made to Alzheimer’s Association, 309 Waverly Oaks Rd., Waltham, MA 02452. Burial in St. Mary of the Bay Cemetery, Warren.
