Marie A. Jennings Jordan

Born March 2, 1923 in the Bronx, New York, she was the second child of Eugene Edward Jennings and Amelia Margaret Alvina Schutzler. Beloved children Maureen, Denise, Thomas, Kathleen, Kevin, Timothy and Colleen; twenty-three grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren survive Marie. Her husband “Flash” and infant son, Lloyd Francis Jordan, Jr, and her brother Eugene Edward Jennings, Jr. predecease her.

Marie was raised and educated in New York. In 1943 she joined the United States Marine Corps Women’s Reserve. Her military orders took her to Camp Joseph Pendleton, Oceanside, CA. It is there where she met her long legged swabby, Flash Jordan. They married July 24, 1944 in San Diego, CA.

After discharge from the military Marie and Flash moved to New Jersey to begin their lives together. In 1962 the family relocated to New Fairfield, CT where they lived until December 2001 when they relocated to the greater New Milford and Danbury CT area.

In 2013 Marie became a resident at Scalabrini Villa in North Kingstown, Rhode Island

In addition to being a homemaker and raising seven children Marie was an active member of St. Edward the Confessor Church in New Fairfield, CT. She was a member of the Ladies Guild, a Eucharist Minister and a Catechist; she was a community volunteer with FISH. Marie was a devoted member of the Third Order of Carmelites.

Marie enjoyed painting and crossword puzzles. She was an avid reader and marvelous baker, gifts she shared and passed onto her children. She was a dutiful daughter and devoted wife. She was quick of wit and tongue. She loved nature and all the creatures of the woodland.

A Memorial Mass will be held on April 11, 2014 at 10:30 AM in Saint Edward the Confessor Roman Catholic Church in New Fairfield, CT. Burial with Military Honors will be at 2:00 PM in Saint Peter Cemetery in Danbury, CT. In lieu of flowers the family has requested donations be made in the name of Anna Jordan to: Mid Atlantic Connection for PKU Allied Disorder Inc. (MACPAD); PO Box 6086; Lancaster, PA 17607-6086.
