Mary (DiMatteo) Chianese, age 91, passed away peacefully Tuesday, May 5, 2020 at Anchor Bay at East Providence. She was the wife of the late Anthony Chianese to whom she was married 58 years prior to his passing in 2008.
Born in Barrington a daughter of the late John and Concetta (Giannattasio) DiMatteo she was a lifelong resident of Barrington.
She worked as a cook at the East Providence High School for many years. A communicant of Holy Angels Church, she was a member of the St. Vincent de Paul Society and the church choir. Mrs. Chianese will be missed and remembered as a loving and generous mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
She is survived by three children, John A. Chianese and his wife Brenda of Greenville, Deborah A. Carreiro of Seekonk and Frank Chianese and his wife Virginia of Seekonk, eight grandchildren, nine great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She is also survived by two sisters, Rose Lombardi and Irene Ventresca and the late Rocco DiMatteo, Anthony DiMatteo, Carmine DiMatteo, Alphonse DiMatteo, Anna Mansi and Assunta DiMatteo.
A private burial for family only, will be held in Maria del Campo Cemetery. Arrangements are in the care of the Wilbur-Romano Funeral Home. Contributions in her honor may be made to the National Breast Cancer Foundation, PO Box 678572, Dallas, TX 75267, https://www.nationalbreastcancer.org

I am so glad I was able to spend some time with your matriarch Mary. She was very supportive of my brother and he of her. I am sad that she was not able to have much personal contact near the end.May peace be with you all.
