

Raymond Pesola, 93, passed away peacefully in his sleep at the Atria Bay Spring Village in Barrington, RI. He was the beloved husband of the late Joan (Farley) Pesola. They were married for 48 years. He was the son of the late Sakri Pesola and Maria E Suikkola.
He is survived by his two daughters Karen Craven and her husband Thomas, Sandra Sullivan and her husband Brian and his daughter-in-law Shiela Sullivan. He was predeceased by his infant daughter Janice Lynn and his son David Pesola.
He is survived by nine grandchildren Matthew Sullivan (Sara), Scott Sullivan (Taylor Hennessy) Brett Sullivan (Brenna). Douglas Craven (Danielle Deluca), Leanne Piccerelli (Mark), Jeffrey Craven, Lynn Pesola, Michael Pesola (Haley Rebello), and Eric Pesola (Lucy). He is also survived by six great children Ivy, Liam and Declan Sullivan, Jack and Caroline Craven and Cillian Sullivan. He is also survived by his sister-in-law Judith Kierce and many nieces and nephews.
He graduated from the University of Maine with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. Upon graduation he served in the U.S. Army Scientific and Professional Program. He spent most of his career working at Raytheon Sonar Division in Portsmouth, RI. He held numerous management positions including 17 years as Manager of Mechanical Engineering. During this period, many state-of-the-art sonar systems were developed for submarines and surface ships.
Upon retiring he sold his home in Barrington and moved to Englewood, FL. and Bridgeton, ME. He built his summer home on Foster Pond in Bridgeton, ME. This home is cherished by his loving family. He was an avid golfer and belonged to Bridgeton Highlands Country Club in Maine and Myakka Pines Golf Club in Florida. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, tennis and playing bridge.
He will be buried with his loving wife Joan at Glenwood Cemetery, Ashby MA.
A private graveside service will be held at a later date.
