Rose Marie Cordeiro

Rose Marie (Lopes) Cordeiro, born June 8, 1942, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 26, 2026, at age 84 at Miriam Hospital. She was the beloved wife of the late Richard J. Cordeiro and cherished partner of the late Alfred J. Pimental. Born in Tiverton, Rose was the daughter of the late Manuel and Mary (Oliveira) Lopes.

Rose Marie worked as a glass cutter of crystalware at Princess House and later as a member of the Newport Hospitality event team. Rose Marie will be remembered for her easygoing spirit, dedication to family and friends, love for animals and a quirky sense of humor that brought laughter to those around her. Rose Marie had a special gift for making everyone feel welcome, often sharing that love through home-cooked meals and family gatherings that made holidays so meaningful.

A lifelong lover of animals, Rose Marie’s compassion extended to volunteer work at Halkidiki Animal Rescue in Greece, a country she treasured and visited many times with family. She found happiness in music and dancing, always embracing life with enthusiasm and a joyful spirit. Her only regret was not having the opportunity to meet Elvis Presley in person.

Rose Marie is survived by her loving children, Sheryl Spanos and her spouse Sandy, and James Cordeiro and his partner Marta, all of Fall River. She was grandmother to Maria Spanos, Yanni Spanos and his fiancé, Alex Capolino, and Jessica Cordeiro Watson. She is survived by her step-grandchildren, Stefani Rubeski and Scott Fanara; her niece, Audrey Lopes and husband Joseph Casellas, and nephew Jack Lopes and his wife Vicki. She was predeceased by her brother, John Lopes and his wife Barbara.

Rose Marie will forever be remembered for her loving nature, whimsical smirk, and the playful twinkle in her eyes that will remain in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know her.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 8, 2026, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Wilbur-Romano Funeral Home, 615 Main St., Warren, Rhode Island. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Burial will be private.
