July 7, 1954 – August 4, 2025
Susan Leavitt Bannon, a loving mother, sister, friend, and spirited soul, passed away peacefully on August 4, 2025, in Providence, Rhode Island, at the age of 71.
Born on July 7, 1954, in Boston, Massachusetts, Susan grew up on he island of Nahant, where her lifelong love of the ocean took root. After many years living in Pennsylvania, she found joy later in life returning to the New England coast in Warren, RI, where she enjoyed walks along the water and the opportunity to swim whenever possible.
Susan was a graduate of the University of New Hampshire and had a successful career as an event planner in the pharmaceutical industry. She was known for her attention to detail and creativity, but her greatest legacy lies in the way she lived her life: with kindness, humor, and generosity.
She was a gifted storyteller who could light up the room with her energy and warmth. She loved to sing and dance, to laugh deeply, and to lift-up those around her. Thoughtful and artistic, she had a sensitive spirit and a deep compassion for others, always offering a helping hand when it was needed most.
Susan adored her family and was a devoted, caring, and fun-loving mother to her two children. She is survived by her children, Laura Foster and Mark Bannon; her siblings, Anne Carter and Fred Leavitt; and her two grandchildren, Glen and Sam Foster, along with many cherished relatives and friends who will miss her deeply. Susan is predeceased by her husband, Glen Bannon; her parents, Gertrude and Miles Leavitt; and her brother, Miles Leavitt, Jr.
Her Visitation will be held on Saturday, September 27, 2025 from 1:00 to 3:00 PM in the Wilbur-Romano Funeral Home, 615 Main St., Warren, Rhode Island, followed by a Funeral Service at 3:00 PM. Relatives and friends are invited. A second service and burial will be held in Newtown, Pennsylvania, where she will be laid to rest beside her beloved husband, Glen.
In lieu of flowers, Susan asked that donations be made to the East Bay Food Pantry (https://eastbayfoodpantry.org) and the Newtown Library Company (https://www.newtownlibrarycompany.org/) in Susan’s memory. She will be remembered always for her grace, humor, and the love that she so freely gave.
