Sheehan (Christine), and Mary Agnes Sheehan (Karen), six grandchildren: Robert Sheehan (Jennifer), Daniel Sheehan (Sophie), Catherine Sheehan, John Sheehan, Patrick Sheehan, and Joseph Sheehan, and one great-grandchild, Reese Sheehan.
Anne was born in Santa Fe, New Mexico, but moved to Washington, DC, at three years of age, where her mother was born and raised, as were three generations before her. Anne attended Blessed Sacrament Grade School, Georgetown Visitation High School, and Trinity College (now Trinity University). She graduated in 1952 and married Rourke J. Sheehan in 1953; they were married for 58 years until his death in 2011. Anne was devoted to her family and her faith, and was widely traveled, particularly in the years after her children left home, at which time she also began part-time work at Dr. Lawrence Funt's cranial-facial pain practice in Bethesda. She made many trips to Europe, but always treasured most her weeks each year at Rehoboth Beach, DE, first as a child and continuing until the last year of her life. She was a Eucharistic Minister for many years at her parish church and delivered communion each week to patients at Suburban Hospital until she was 90. She was the center of her family's life, hosting dinners, parties, crab feasts, holidays, and other events for friends and family.
Visitation will be held from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm on March 19 at Joseph Gawler’s Sons, 5130 Wisconsin Avenue Northwest, Washington, District of Columbia. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, March 20, at St. Jane Frances de Chantal Catholic Church, 9701 Old Georgetown Road, Bethesda, Maryland at 10:45 am, with a visitation at 10:00 am.
