On April 23, 2026, Carol passed peacefully. She was a native Washingtonian who was born to Vincent S. Davis and Katherine Davis (Smith) on February 15, 1934, attended Nativity School in Northwest D.C. and St. Cecelia High School in Southwest, D.C.
She married her high school sweetheart, Lawrence E. Horning, Sr., who predeceased her. Together they lovingly raised eight children, all who survive her: Lawrence Horning, Jr. (Leslie), Michael Horning (Debbie), Catherine Farrell (Tom), James Horning, Mary Claire Lynch (Carl), Paul Horning (Virginia), Patrick Horning (Tanya) and Charles Horning (Mary Beth). She is also survived by her brother, Frank Davis (Carol), sister, Nancy Upton, 21 grandchildren and 26 great grandchildren, with many more to come.
Family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her name to Catholic Charities or Hope and a Home.
Private interment at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, with a celebration of life to be held on June 25, 2026, details to follow.
