Cynthia Winfield Pierce died March 10, 2022 in Washington, DC from lung cancer complications. Cynde was born in the District on August 21, 1952, alongside her twin sister Shelley. Majoring in French Language and Literature, she studied art at the Sorbonne in Paris, and lived in Oakland and San Francisco, CA before completing a Masters in Library Science at the University of Maryland. For 24 years, Cynde worked in book conservation and microform projects at the National Library of Medicine. After retiring, she became a full-time caregiver for her late beloved mother, Patricia Garrison Boorman. Cynde had a lifelong passion for fine art, especially painting and drawing. She loved animated films and TV shows, science fiction, French culture, cats, tennis, and swimming. Survived by her sisters Jennifer (John) Gallivan and Shelley Kreutzmann; niece Emily (Colm Mc Nally) Gallivan; and cousins Jack, Steve, Bud, Katie, Tori, and Shawn, and their families. She is preceded in grace by her brother James Fielding Pierce.
