Of Washington DC, passed suddenly on June 24, 2018. Deb, daughter of John and Emily Morris, was born in Wilmington, Delaware. She attended Newark High followed by University of Delaware, and then reported for the Easton MD, Star Democrat. For 14 years she was writer/editor for a major international NGO, and edited for the World Bank and IMF.
Deb was a local hostess, gardener, volunteer, and cat lover—often called a “cat whisperer,” and a devoted, loving, lifelong friend to many. She and her husband of 27 years were host parents for the Washington Ireland Program for 12 years, where she became the joyful “host mom” for ten Brandywine Boys and two girls.
Deb is survived by her loving husband Kurt D. Moses, her devoted sisters Margaret Morris of Wilmington DE, Tammy Morris Sadot of Newark DE, and three nieces, Bridget Callahan (husband Steve Ruppert and son Oliver) of Seattle WA, Rachael Callahan of Washington, DC, and Alexandria Sadot of Newark DE.
There will be a celebration of life for friends and family on July 14--3pm at Joseph Gawler’s Sons, Wisconsin Ave NW, WDC. A wake celebration will follow. Memorial contributions may be made to the local animal rescue shelter or ASPCA.
