

Dorothy Condon, age 88, of Chevy Chase, Maryland, passed away peacefully on September 12, 2024. Known as “Dot Dot” to many that loved her, she is survived by her children: Maura (Mark) Miller of Potomac, MD, Megan Condon of Frederick, MD, Elizabeth (Victor Ume-Ukeje) Condon of San Francisco, CA and Robert (Julie) Condon, Jr. of San Antonio, TX. She is also survived by her sisters Maryanne Murtaugh and Kathleen Culhane, and her grandchildren, Logan Miller, Liam Miller, Zeke Ume-Ukeje, Timothy Ume-Ukeje, Sally Ume-Ukeje, Cashel Condon, Cuyler Condon and Eavan Condon. She is preceded in death by her grandson, Cullen Condon.
Born in Queens, NY, Dorothy attended St. John’s University. After college, she taught grade school and, after relocating to Maryland, continued to teach grammar school before embarking on careers in public relations and banking administration. Dorothy also worked for many years as a volunteer at her local hospital in several capacities.
Dorothy raised her family in Garden City, NY and Kensington, MD. She spent many summers on the North Fork of Long Island, New York, both when she was young and throughout her lifetime. She loved to garden and could often be found outdoors. Dorothy inherited her mother’s gift of creativity and enjoyed painting, needlepoint, sewing and baking.
Dorothy was adventurous. She loved traveling and was known for her impeccable style and irreverent sense of humor. She loved to read, take long walks, spend time with her children and grandchildren and watch tennis.
She will be dearly missed by her family and close friends. Please join us to celebrate her life with a Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, October 5th at 11:00 a.m. at the Shrine of the Most Blessed Sacrament, 5949 Western Avenue NW Washington, D.C. There will be a visitation at Blessed Sacrament beginning at 10:00 a.m. on the same day. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to the Arthritis Foundation at arthritis.org.
