Dorothy was born and grew up in Washington, DC. She was married at the Foundry Methodist Church, and then spent four years with her husband, Neal Fleming, in California, where his Navy duties took him. After that, Dorothy and Neal moved to the neighborhood of Edgemoor in Bethesda, MD where she lived until moving to Maplewood Park Place.
During World War II, Dorothy did some secretarial work and spent many hours volunteering. She had varied interests which included painting, bridge, flower arranging, gardening, knitting, crossword puzzles and reading.
The Fleming family consists of one daughter, Jane Kennedy (Atlanta), and two sons, C. Neal (Rehoboth Beach) and Jeffrey (deceased). She has 9 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Dorothy lived 100 wonderful years.
