Born in Wyandotte, MI to Roy and Eleanor, Helminski began his career as a physics professor and left academics to become an energy policy advisor to state legislators, governors, and U.S. President Jimmy Carter. He then founded his own publishing and conference company, ExchangeMonitor Publications, the field leader in covering domestic and international nuclear and energy policy. A nonconformist in thought and dress, he conducted business without socks and in a Stetson.
Ed is survived by his wife and high school sweetheart Carole Ann, his children Christopher and Ursula, and two grandchildren. Generous with his time, money and opinion, he touched the lives of many. An avid skier and collector of classic cars and Indian art, he insisted that all live for the moment. Carpe Diem.
