Born in Kingston, PA, on November 19, 1933, George Peter Mallios died at age 90 on February 22, 2024. He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Jenny Mallios, his three children, Stephanie, Peter (Tamara), and Monica (Christopher), along with seven adored grandchildren, Olivia (Nicolas), Samuel, Katherine, Bennett, Braden, Jack, and Blake.
George graduated from Coolidge High School in Washington DC, and went on to graduate from George Washington University in 1956. He served on active duty in the United States Navy from December 13, 1956 to December 2, 1959. Following that service, he returned to Washington DC and joined his parents, Peter and Eleni (Helen) Mallios in the family business—the Trio Restaurant. He retired from the business in December 2012 at the age of 79.
A visitation will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, March 1, at Saint Sophia Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 2815 36th Street, NW, Washington DC, where a funeral service will follow at 11:00 a.m. Interment will take place at Parklawn Memorial Park in Rockville, MD, following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Saint Sophia Greek Orthodox Cathedral.
