

Gordon Sutherland Creed, a man of quiet, extraordinary achievements and diverse passions, passed away peacefully at his home in Chevy Chase, MD on February 21, 2025, at the age of 77. A devoted husband, father, and grandfather, Gordon's life was a testament to his keen intellect, unwavering dedication, and multifaceted talents.
Born on September 26, 1947, in Bremerton, WA to Captain Donald and Helen Creed, Gordon graduated from American University with a bachelor’s degree in Political Science / Public Administration and received his juris doctor degree from Seattle University (formerly known as the University of Puget Sound). Gordon was a lifelong learner and member of the Cosmos Club, author of Blindsided, a study of the coverup surrounding Amelia Earhart’s Disappearance, and advisor to the National Women’s History Museum. He was also a vehicle enthusiast enjoying exquisite cars, including his ownership of a 1966 AC 427 Cobra, vintage boats, including his Centaur motorboat, and motorcycles and Segways. Gordon is survived by his wife, Irene; children Amanda (spouse Bill Lockhart) and Marina (spouse Paul Dybinski); and grandchildren Alexander, Maximos, Grace, and Gabriel. He is also survived by his sister Laura Gordon (spouse Brad) and brother Donald Creed (spouse Diane). He is preceded in death by his brother Andy Creed (spouse Lynda).
A visitation will be held at 10:00a.m. at Saint Sophia Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 2815 36th Street NW Washington, DC 20007, where a Funeral Liturgy will be held at 11:00a.m. Interment will be private. In Lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Saint Sophia Greek Orthodox Cathedral.
