On Thursday, May 24, 2012, HAIG GOSHDIGIAN of Ashton, MD. The deeply loved and cherished husband of Virginia B. Olds Goshdigian; brother of the late Vicki Goshdigian. Also survived by nieces, Laura Olds Weaver, Carol Olds Redden; nephew, Edson B. Olds and their families. Haig was born on August 20, 1914, in Providence, RI, a first-generation Armenian-American. He served in the Army during World War II in the Pacific and went into Japan soon after the war ended. After getting his Master's degree in French from Middlebury College, Vermont, he worked as a linguist for the National Security Agency from 1951 to 1981. He loved his two homes in Ashton, MD and Foster, RI, where he built extensive, spectacular stone walls. The original sections of both houses dated from the 1700's and Haig loved restoring them and designing their gardens. A dapper gentleman, he was dearly loved by his family and his many, many friends. He attributed his long life to garlic, onions and red wine. Services will be held at JOSEPH GAWLER'S SONS CHAPEL, 5130 Wisconsin Ave NW, (corner of Harrison St.), Washington, DC on Thursday, May 31 at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Armenia Tree Project, armeniatree.org or the Jewish Social Services Agency (JSSA).
