

Jack W. White, 92, of Washington DC, died February 8, 2016 at Sunrise on Connecticut Avenue. He is survived by his Nephew, Robert W. (Echo) Davis, Great Niece, Nance J. Davis (Peter V. Smith) and close friend and neighbor, Jerry Foster.
Jack was born on August 16, 1923 and raised in Springfield, IL, the son of William and Ida (Wieben) White. He attended school in Springfield, IL where he enjoyed playing the clarinet in the band and remained a music enthusiast throughout his life. He was a member of the Third Presbyterian Church in Springfield, IL.
He served in the Army from 1943 – 1946 and was stationed in the Philippines. After being discharged from the Army, he attended Springfield Junior College and then Bradley University where he graduated with a BS in Commerce, Accounting Major in 1950.
He worked at Sangamo Electric in Springfield, IL until moving to Chicago, IL in 1950 where he worked for Celotex Corp. He then began a position at Mortgage Bankers Association of America in 1963 as an Assistant Director of Management Services. He also completed a Certificate at the School of Mortgage Bankers. In 1968 he moved with Mortgage Bankers Association to Washington DC where he became the Assistant Director of Operations until 1989 when he retired.
In his retirement years he lived a quiet life. He was an avid reader, letter writer and enjoyed taking walks. He was a beloved Uncle, great friend and a caring, helpful neighbor. He was also quite a character with charming qualities.
He was preceded in death by his Father, Mother, Sister, Irene Davis and Brother-in-Law, Earl Davis.
A memorial gathering of family and friends will be held at a later date. Jack will be laid to rest at Oak Ridge Cemetery in Springfield, IL.
