Joan Shorey was a vibrant, intelligent and accomplished woman who as a top aide on Capitol Hill in the 1970s helped enact landmark environmental legislation. Her charm, boundless curiosity and gift for friendship will be missed by three generations of Washingtonians and many others in Maine and across the country.
