

JoAnn Fain of Washington, DC, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 3, 2025. Born in Decatur, Georgia, she lived in the Atlanta, Georgia, area for much of her life. After graduating from Tucker High School in 1958, she worked for several years in Atlanta before graduating from Emory University in 1980 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in art history. After moving to Arlington, Virginia in 1995, she worked in the Smithsonian American Art Museum and National Portrait Gallery, as well as volunteered with the Library of Congress. She and her husband Don were together for more than 30 years until his passing in 1999. JoAnn most recently resided in Washington, DC, where she enjoyed being with her friends and neighbors. She especially loved art, travel, and college basketball, and sharing these experiences with others. JoAnn is survived by her son Kevin and daughter-in-law Jennifer.
