I'll never forget Jay riding his bicycle to come and visit with me .
 The adventure started at his house and ended up on Old Georgetown Road in Bethesda where I was working at the time ..
He was coming to visit me and along with him was a bottle of wine
to give me for Christmas.. 
 Sorrowfully he dropped it on the sidewalk before he could deliver..
It was such a precious effort , which simply demonstrated Jay"s
character and kindness.. 
  The funny thing was , I graciously thanked him and we hugged each other and laughed it all off. 
 And wished each other a very Merry Christmas...

First and foremost I want to send my deepest sympathy and love to Peggy and family. I just recently learned that my dear friend Jay passed away to rest with our Lord and savior Jesus Christ. Jay was such a kind and sweet soul on this earth and I always appreciated his friendship. We had many fun laughs and times together over the 35 plus years that we had known each other. I am so thankful that God gave me the insight to call him on the night before his surgery  and to talk to him and tell him that I was pulling for him. Heaven welcomes our friend and loved one. My sincere condolences to the family.  Mr. Treadwell took the time to write a three page letter on my behalf to EEOC. He was an excellent advocate. I tried to call him after thinking of him...no answer, decided to check google. 😪Rest well.

Our condolences to our dear therapist Peggy and to your wonderful family.  Your Jay has given you and all who knew him, his quiet and solid love and friendship for many many years.  We greeted him often as we came to hear your wisdom, to enjoy your flowers and watch your birds.  "Where do you want to start today" Peggy would say, and then give us her full attention in her lovely southern accent.  We have been the lucky ones to enjoy Jay's garden and his sharing of his dear Peggy.  We took this picture last Spring of  the Jay Garden, that was even shared with the bunnies.  Our hearts go out to all who had the pleasure of knowing Jay.

Jay was a member of the Class of 1961 at Cornell.  He was a Hotel Administration graduate.  He always had time to visit with you. He supervised two great banquets for the Class's 50th reunion in 2011. Made it a very memorable occasion. Thanks Jay. Our condolences to his family.
 

Lissa and I send sympathies and love to all the family. Jay gave so much to all of us. We knew him through St. Columba's, where even as he dealt with cancer surgery, he continued to come and to contribute his photographic talents and so much more to the Congregation. He walked courageously with cancer, inviting us to pray with him. His example and Peggy's  have  taught much to many. 

On a lighter note,  I used to tease Peggy that she owed Jay part of her therapy income, because walking through the garden he so lovingly planted and tended was itself uplifting good therapy! A man of many, many talents that he generously shared.

I am grateful for the years Jay had, the fabulous family he leaves, the travels he was able to take, even as he lived with cancer, and the love he leaves with us. Jay's legacy is large, and I know he'd want us to smile through our tears, planting him forever in our hearts. 

Jay  joined myself and two other friends (Susan Boyle and Julie Pizzuti) on an afternoon trek several years ago when we were in London for a CHS event.   We had the most delightful time at a castle and then lunch afterwards. He was a kind man who always had a smile for people. He will be greatly missed. Big hugs to you Peggy and the kids as you go through this time. He certainly was a trooper. Meg
