Katherine Kallianes Perros, aged 98, of Potomac, Maryland, passed away peacefully on June 12, 2021. She is survived by her son, Peter Perros, his wife, Frances Perros and their daughter and son-in-law Katherine Clare and Ryan Harmony, by her daughter Eugenia Perros and by her daughter and son-in-law Victoria and Victor Levi. She is predeceased by her loving and devoted husband of 58 years, Agamemnon Peter Perros.
Many words come to mind when describing Katherine’s special qualities. First and foremost she was a loving, selfless and wholly devoted wife, mother and grandmother. In addition, she extended her maternal embrace to many others who viewed her as a surrogate mother. Ever kind, compassionate and generous, she was a willing, wise and non-judgmental listener to those who confided in her. Katherine was full of spirit and spunk, sharp of intellect, a lover of music and an avid reader who was interested in the world around her. Her strength of character was shaped by her parents, whom she adored, as well as by her strong roots in the Greek population of Newark, New Jersey. While her childhood was not rich in material things, it was rich in love, family, faith and community. Katherine helped and inspired many during her long life’s path. She will be greatly missed by those whose lives she touched.
