This is very late but we just learned of Lee’s passing and are still absorbing the shock. Our son Max was a good friend of Lee’s in 7th and 8th grade. Max said Lee always understood even if he didn’t say it. He was an unusually perceptive person, and creative and intelligent. And kind.

Lee was a good friend and a good person. He was always making jokes, and rarely if ever said anything nasty. He cracked me up, and we spent some good times together. I lost contact with him sophomore year, which I spent abroad without the ability to reach him. I wish I had reached out to him last year to reconnect during the pandemic. Lee, you will be missed, but not forgotten.

Where do I even begin? You were my first best friend in middle school and had so many memories with you. It pains me knowing how we drifted apart. I even thought of contacting you this summer, I wish I did to be honest. Wherever you are, I hope to meet you again old friend. You were the nicest one and I will remember you forever in my heart. My mom misses you too, she really loved you a lot too. It felt like you were apart of my family you know? I miss you Lee Horton. God bless you old friend, I hope you brought your electric guitar wherever you are now.

Lee was always so cheerful and kind in school. His outlook on life was fascinating and refreshing even as a middle schooler, and despite not having any classes with him in high school, his bright smile and happy energy when we passed in the hallway always made me feel better. I just heard about his passing from a mutual friend, and I cannot express how sad the news makes me. We’ve lost a dear friend and a truly beautiful person. Best wishes and thoughts to his family and friends.

Horton Family,  The news of Lee’s passing left Grant, Colin, Jim and I shocked and saddened.  It seems like only yesterday that the boys met in first grade and that Lee so memorably recounted that meeting at their 5th grade graduation.  I wish I had magic words that would bring a tiny bit of comfort to you all. But since I do not  - this joyful memory will be my offering.   Peace be with you - holly.

The pain has been lifted for Lee and I only hope he has found everlasting joy and love with his grandparents, uncle Kent, and one day with all of us.     I am so very sorry for your indescribable loss.  Somehow words of condolence seem woefully inadequate as the sudden loss of a child never is fair or makes sense and seems to defy the natural order of things 
   When Lee was young I use to hear stories about him from Dylan. How he and Grant would  use imaginative techniques to change and secure his diaper when babysitting which baby Lee would take in stride with good humor .  When older, Dylan was his counselor at Geneva summer camp and his stories were full of his “little bro Lee.” His subsequent stories and updates of Lee throughout the years were full of fond delight. He seemed a wonderful child with an exciting future ahead of him.  I am so sorry for your devastating loss  You are all  in my thoughts  Sally Locksley

By now Lee has seen his Grandparents, Great Aunts and Uncles and Uncle Kent.  I truly believe he is in a better place, though that may be difficult to comprehend.

This is by far the hardest thing for me to do.  Lee did not go alone, part of me went with him.  I am still in shock and grappling with his sudden death.  He was MY Lee, he was my fourth son (That's what I always say to him). To Lee, I was not just his Nanny, or former Nanny, I was his second mom.  He loved and cared so much about me and I want everybody to know that Lee has left me with the fondest of memories to cherish for the rest of my life.  I will miss our usual texts even after midnight.  I am comforted by the fact that I was able to tell him how much I love him on 07/09/21 at 7;12 am on his 18th birthday.  I wanted to be the first to call/text him. Even though it was his day, I also wanted to feel the love that he showers me with all the time on that Friday morning. He loved me so much and I will miss him. He was my baby. My Lee Montrose, his nickname for me. God it hurts so bad. He was just becoming a youngman. My boy becoming a man. Because of his enthusiasm in playing the guitar and writing songs, my love for old music was awaken. That was our awesome time on the phone. Lee loved old music, he was an old soul.  I will miss his laughter especially when he is recounting stories that I have shared with him when he was younger.  I will miss him saying I LOVE YOU KHADEE and TAKE CARE OF YOURSELF.  I love you Lee. Rest in peace till we meet again.
