

Linda Watkins Sorkin of Washington, DC, passed away at her home on August 29, 2026. She was the daughter of the late Mr. William Jerry Watkins and his wife, Frances Kemp Watkins. After completing high school in Hampton, Virginia, she graduated from Mary Washington University, the Marshall-Wythe School of Law of the College of William and Mary, and received her LLM from George Washington University Law School. After obtaining her license to practice law, she was employed by the Federal Transit Administration for more than 40 years, following a few other endeavors. During her time in Washington, she participated in several organizations supporting the arts. She was married to the late Martin Sorkin and was predeceased by her stepson. She is survived by two step-grandchildren and two step-great-grandsons. In lieu of flowers, a donation in her memory to the charity of your choice would be appreciated.
A graveside service will be held at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Newport News, Virginia, on Saturday, September 12, 2026, at 12:00 noon. Details for a Celebration of Life to be held in the DC area will be announced at a later date.
