Lydia C. Maningas, passed away peacefully on April 23, 2019 at GWU Hospital in Washington, D.C. due to multiple strokes. She had the great pleasure of many friends and family visiting her in the hospital in the days leading up to her final breath, daughter, Ana, by her side.
Lydia was born in Manila on September 2, 1932. She attended St. Paul’s College. A fiercely independent and determined woman, Lydia made the long journey to the United States in the early 60’s to find her fortune and to help her family back home. Lydia settled in Washington, D.C. and began her 40+ year career as a staff assistant at the World Bank. After retirement, Lydia still visited her friends weekly at the World Bank. It was truly her home away from home.
Lydia is survived by her daughter, Ana Maningas Zuck, son-in-law, Rick Zuck, grandson, John Patrick (J. P.) Zuck and granddaughter, Annette Grace Zuck, all of whom reside in New York, NY. She treasured her two grandchildren most of all.
