Marcia Thayer Fell

Marcia Thayer Fell passed away Saturday, January 11, 2025 in Washington, DC at age 94. She was raised in Buffalo, New York with her brother Bill by their parents Evelyn and Ralph Thayer. After graduating from the Buffalo Seminary, Marcia received her B.A. from Wheaton College in Massachusetts and majored in History.

Marcia met her husband, Air Force Lt. Colonel Joseph Fell, in Buffalo and they were married in 1956 at Westminster Church. They raised their daughter, Stacey, in Buffalo and enjoyed bowling and golfing together.

Marcia was an avid golfer, Buffalo Bills fan, and performing arts enthusiast. Marcia served as the President of the Western New York Women’s Golf Association and was the first female member of the Saturn Club. One of her favorite places was Sea Island, where she enjoyed golfing with her friends and going for walks on the beach with her daughter. Marcia loved music! She was often found picking out a tune at her piano or ukulele and tapped her feet to the Lester Lanin Big Band Orchestra and Rodgers and Hammerstein till the very end.

Marcia is survived by her daughter, Stacey Fell Milne; son-in-law, Andrew Milne; granddaughter, Caroline Milne; and her nieces and nephews, Scott Thayer (Carol), Betsy Thayer Butzer (Albert), Susan Fell Mahoney (Jim), and John Fell (Heather). A memorial service will be held on Saturday March 8th at 10:00 AM at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 724 Delaware Ave, Buffalo, NY 14209. In lieu of flowers, donations in Marcia’s memory may be made to Westminster Presbyterian Church in Buffalo, New York.
