

Margaret Ellen (Peggy) Seery (nee Kelly), 82 was born September 23, 1942, Scranton, PA and died July 19, 2025, Silver Spring, MD. She was the daughter of William P. and Rose Mary Tackney Kelly. She is predeceased by her husband Francis X. Seery, and her sister Rosemary Kelly. She is survived by her children Ellen Seery Ryan, Esq. (Pat), Francis Xavier Seery III and William James Seery (Michelle) as well as nine grandchildren: Angelique Choate, Conor Ryan, Thomas Choate, Gwendolyn Seery, Rebecca Choate, Margaret Ryan, Brie Jarrett, Laura Choate, Finn Seery, three great grandchildren and her sister Catherine Murray as well as numerous nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
She was a graduate of St. Patrick’s High School, Olyphant, PA and Immaculata College (now Immaculata University), Immaculata, PA. Peggy was employed by Ford Motor Company and then Carlson Marketing Automotive Division as a copy editor. She loved to be asked to proofread papers for her grandchildren after retirement. Peggy was active in the Huron Valley Girl Scout Council in Southeastern Michigan holding many positions including Troop Services Director, Area Chairman and President of the Huron Valley Girl Scout Council. She was a proud recipient of the Thanks Badge and was privileged to attend several National conventions as a delegate. Peggy was also a member of the Ladies Ancient Order of the Hibernians, Elizabeth Fagan Division in Wayne County, Michigan.
Peggy loved retirement in Stone Creek in Ocala, FL where she lived for 17 years. She was president of the Book Club and a member of the Kitchen Club as well as the Lunch Bunch. Peggy participated in numerous other activities including water aerobics and attending local theater performances with a group of friends.
After the death of her husband Frank she moved to Riderwood Village in Silver Spring. Peggy treasured being close to family and relished the holidays and celebrations with her children and grandchildren. She made new friends, took the opportunity to travel when she could, participated in the book club and enjoyed weekly post-Mass adventures with her granddaughter Angelique.
A devoted wife, mother and grandmother, Peggy loved reading and spending time with her children and grandchildren. For several years before his death, Peggy was a devoted caregiver to Frank when he was bed bound at home due to post-polio syndrome.
A Funeral Mass will be held July 31, 2025 beginning at 11 am at the Chapel in Riderwood Village, 3140 Gracefield Rd., Silver Spring, Maryland 20904. Visitation will begin at 10:30 and a reception will follow Mass at her daughter’s home 4816 Norbeck Rd., Rockville, MD 20853. Burial will held at Cathedral Cemetery in Scranton, PA on August 2, 2025.
