On June 10, 2018, Mark William Baker III of McLean, VA, died surrounded by his loving family. He is survived by his wife Mary (nee Quayle) Baker, daughter Robin Crawford (Ezra), son Mark William Baker IV (Sarah), his brother Stephen Baker (Joyce), and grandchildren Cameron and Elizabeth Crawford; and Annie and Benjamin Baker.
Mr. Baker was born on January 17, 1936, in Lima, PA, and was the son of Mark William Baker II and May (nee Edwards) Baker. He was preceded in death by his brother, Clarence Baker (Margaret).
After graduating from Pennsylvania State University, Mr. Baker was employed in Philadelphia by the National Park Service as an architect. He then moved to the Washington, D.C. area, where he served as a commissioned officer in the U.S. Army, and achieved the rank of Captain. Following his military service, he continued to serve his country with a 57 year career in Geospatial Intelligence.
A Memorial Service will be held at St. John's Episcopal Church, 6715 Georgetown Pike, McLean, VA 22101 on July 16 at 2:00 PM. Interment will take place at a later date.
