Mary Kelly earned a Bachelor’s Degree in History from Trinity University, Washington, D.C. in 1970 and a Master’s Degree from the University of Pennsylvania in American Studies in 1972.
For more than 40 years, she worked in Washington, D.C. at the Bureau of National Affairs and then at Bloomberg BNA, in a variety of areas. At the time of her retirement in 2017, she was Executive Director of Research & Library Services.
Mary loved to travel, read, visit her family, participate in book clubs, and volunteer at the Smithsonian and at the Folger Shakespeare Library.
Mary Kelly was a loving and caring daughter to her parents, Thomas E. Kelly and Marie Rose Kelly (nee Lacey) (both now deceased) and sibling to her sisters, Margaret Clements (David), Elizabeth (deceased), and Madonna (deceased) and her brothers, Thomas (Mary) and Denis (Sue). She was a devoted and doting aunt to several nieces and nephews and to her great nieces and great nephew.
She supported several community service charities, including ASAP (Asylum Seekers Advocacy Project) and Doctors without Borders. In lieu of flowers, donations to those two organizations would be appreciated.
