We often speak of “our Nancy” as she brought great joy to so many!   We miss her!

I so miss my friend Nancy, her wonderful smile,  great care, concern and love for others, as well as her sense of humor and wonder. It was an honor and privilege to know her.

Nancy was the best of the best!   Originally my association with her was as a volunteer at the White House, and it grew into a full-fledged loving friendship.  She was a dedicated worker and made all the volunteers feel appreciated and needed.  She also was kind to a fault.   For my 75th birthday she arranged a private tour of Air Force One for me!  That was definitely one of the highlights of my life.
Nancy had a deep faith in God that shone through her.  She also had a great sense of humor.  It was a great privilege to be her friend.  I miss her so much.

I remember Nancy as a fun, fiesty and lovely lady. I know her through Volunteering, however, I knew her outside of volunteering through another dear friend.. She was a dedicated,  straightforward and loyal lady who was lots of fun to be around. 
She is missed by all who knew her...!

I'll always remember Nancy for her vibrant spirit, her love of life and of people. I first met her when I was a lowly intern right out of college. DC can be a tough place, but Nancy was someone who made you feel both valued and cared for. She was always rooting for your happiness and success. It was a great privilege to have known this very special lady.

Nancy was an amazing lady.  I first met her at church where she was volunteering and it was warm and cordial. Then Sheila introduced us a little later and having shared interests we hit it off really well. Nancy was an incredibly joyful woman who had a tremendous wit, a great knowledge of current events and a love for everything.
The work she did to celebrate our Parish's history and traditions were a pure act of love. When current events happened I could always count on her for having great ideas and insight.

My life is richer for having known her and our community and nation are better for her dedication and service. 



This lovely woman shares a prominent role in my own autobiography.  Her generosity, sensitivity and sense of humor were outstanding characteristics and I will forever, be grateful for her friendship.  I treasure the memories and offer my sincere condolences to her wonderful family.

We will always remember the fantastic time we spend with Nancy. She was an excellent host, friend and knew how to keep conversations going. 



Nancy always brought joy and delight to everything. I was fortunate enough to know her and experience her exuberant approach to life, even unto the end. Last month we were able to enjoy a final event at the White House and she was in high spirits. God rest her blessed soul.

Mrs. Theis was a positive force in the young lives of so many of us at St.Thomas Apostle School. She was a great teacher and always encouraged us to do better and do the right thing. We stayed close with her throughout her life and are lucky to have enjoyed her friendship. She is a rare, kind and compassionate individual that was always making us smile when we spoke of her. Some people will be remembered long after they have gone ahead of us.  Nancy is one of those people.  She will be remembered for her cheerful nature and her kindness.  We have seen her very seldom in recent years, but when we were young she often invited us to her home.  We were kin of Paul's, and she seemed to want to welcome us, to forge a connection.  She was very good at listening and at encouraging all of us.  We received presidential congratulations from one resident of the White House or other at whatever high point we were celebrating.  But the greatest kindness was extended to our youngest son when he graduated from college and hadn't found a job.  She took him in.  Quite literally took him in.  She invited him to her home and took him to the White House with her as a volunteer.  It led to a nice job and a very special relationship with Nancy.   When we planned out 50th anniversary party, we asked Nancy to come.  Her response was the first acceptance we received.  We were looking forward to sharing the occasion with her, to introducing her to the little grand daughter who is the offspring of that son she so graciously adopted years ago.  She will long be remembered.
